Saving & Resizing

Resizing an image

ResizingSheet
To resize an image, choose "Resize Image" from the "Edit" menu. You can also click the size text at the bottom of the Picturesque window. The resize pane (shown above) will allow you to modify the original image's dimensions. You can use the slider to scale the image down quickly by a certain percentage.

Picturesque always maintains proportions, so if you enter in a value for width, Picturesque will calculate the height automatically and vice versa.

When you add effects the final image size will change. For instance, if you add a reflection, the height of the final image will be much larger than that of the original. Picturesque calculates the final size for your image automatically and displays it in the resize sheet and at the bottom of your window.

Saving an image

When you are done editing a single image, you can save it using one of 3 different save commands:

  • Save as - Choose "Save As..." from the File -> Save Image menu, or click the "Save As" button in the right hand corner of the main Picturesque window. This will bring up the saving panel where you can choose a location and format to save your new image into.

  • Save to Desktop - Choose "Save to Desktop" from the File -> Save Image menu. This will automatically save a copy of your image on your desktop. It will be named "[Your original image name]", and will be in the same format as your original image.

  • Overwrite Image - Choose "Overwrite Image" from the File -> Save Image menu.
WARNING: this will overwrite your original image. This can be handy if you just want to crop or resize and image quickly without saving a copy, but we highly recommend you make a backup image, as this operation cannot be undone.
